What is jetSpeed?

Answer

jetSpeed is a complete product series of ADSL (Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line) modems/ routers, which are created to cover all user needs and requirements for broadband connections.

From which models jetSpeed series is consisted of?

Answer

jetSpeed ADSL modems series has two main subcategories products. One, which is compatible with ISDN telephone lines (jetSpeed100i/jetSpeed500i) and another, which is compatible with analogue (POTS) telephone lines (jetSpeed100/jetSpeed500).

Which of these products covers my needs?

Answer

If you just need a fast broadband connection for personal use only without extra requirements the jetSpeed 100/100i is the best choice for you. Otherwise, jetSpeed 500/500i is the advance solution for broadband connection with the functionalities of a router. Ideal for use in companies' environments and advance network solutions.

Which operating systems are supported by jetSpeed modems?

Answer

jetSpeed 500/500i supports all known operating systems for PCs (Unix, Linux, Windows, MacOS, OSX e.t.c.) through its LAN interface. USB connections (either from jetSpeed 100/100i or jetSpeed 500/500i) are supported for all Windows operating systems (98,2000,Me, XP).

What protocols does jetSpeed support?

Answer

Both models of jetSpeed ADSL modems (100/500) support the most common and widely used protocols for broadband connections such as PPPoA, PPPoE, RFC1483 (in both bridged or routed modes). Please consult your Access Provider for the appropriate WAN protocol selection.

How can I connect jetSpeed to my PC?

Answer

jetSpeed 100/100i has an USB 1.1 compliant interface, which is also used for supplying jetSpeed with power enough to cover its power needs. Drivers are easy to install and there is support for all the Windows operating systems. jetSpeed 500/500i has an external power pack and two interfaces. A USB interface supplied with the appropriate drivers for Windows and an Ethernet interface for connecting to PC's NIC or to other network devices (HUB, routers, switches).

Can I have my old telephone service in use together with ADSL?

Answer

Yes! xDSL and the POTS or ISDN telephony can work together in the same copper line. Using the Inline filters or the central splitter you can have available your phone line and simultaneously you can be connected to the Internet using the jetSpeed ADSL modem.

What connection speeds can I have using the jetSpeed modem?

Answer

jetSpeed ADSL modems support up to 8Mbps download speed and up to 832Kbps for uploading (depends on distance between exchange and customer). However the maximum actual connection speed is limited by the service profile from the Networt Access Provider.

How can I create a Bridged connection for my Jetspeed?

Answer

  1. Please delete any existing connection that you have already created for Jetspeed.
  2. Via the "Quick Start" button, please create an "RFC1483 Bridged" connection with the following settings:
    VPI: 8 & VCI: 35.
  3. Save your settings.

What are the differences between a PPPoA and a Bridged connection?

Answer

Using the PPPoA connection the Jetspeed functions as a modem/router, while using the BRIDGED connection the Jetspeed functions only as a dial-up modem. However, using the PPPoA connection the safety of the system is much more improved due to NAT.

How can I change the LAN IP address of my Jetspeed?

Answer

In the "Configuration menu" please select "LAN Connections". Then select "Change modem LAN port IP address". Type the new IP address to the "Secondary IP Address" field and press "Apply". In the "Configuration menu" select "System > Save Config > Save".

  1. Please delete any existing connection that you have already created for the Jetspeed.
  2. Go through the following procedure:
    tab HOME > System Mode > Bridging:Enabled > Submit
    tab HOME > Quick Configuration > Encapsulation:1483 Bridged IP LLC Bridge:Enabled > Submit
    tab Admin > Commit & Reboot > Commit
