Distinction of Intracom Telecom in the Best City Awards

Gold Award for Intracom Telecom regarding a pilot "Smart City" deployment in the Municipality of Ilioupoli in Attica Greece using its all-in-one innovative IoT solution

Athens, Greece - 31 October 2016 - Intracom Telecom, a global telecommunication systems and solutions vendor, announced today that it received the Gold Award in the "Smart Lighting" category at the Best City Awards 2016, organized by Boussias Communications, for implementing a "Smart City" pilot project in the Municipality of Ilioupoli in Attica, Greece.

Intracom Telecom has developed an innovative solution, powered by ICEGateway, ideal for municipalities and cities that share the vision of a "Smarter Connected Society" and want their infrastructure to interact with the public. The solution allows local authorities to maintain full control of infrastructure and monitor, in real-time, the quality of services offered. The IoT platform was installed in a predetermined area in the municipality of Ilioupolis in Attica, aiming to reduce operational expenses and provide "smart" innovative services to citizens. More specifically, the project included:

• Replacement of existing street lights with "smart" and energy efficient LED lighting controlled remotely via the Internet by the municipality
• Installation of Bluetooth ultrasonic sensors that detect the motion of people and vehicles to produce traffic data (Traffic Flow), count pedestrians (People / Object Counting) and perform actions (event driven local dimming) when registered Bluetooth device is in range.
• Creation of zones to check parked vehicles (Occupancy Level Parking).
• Creation of Wireless Digital points (Digital Info Kiosks- Information on the Go) on selected lampposts which accommodate digital marketing services, such as local store promotions and special discounts.
• Creation of wireless Wi-Fi access points on selected lampposts to provide free Wi-Fi access to the public (Public Wi-Fi) without the use of external devices.
