SYRIAN TELECOMMUNICATION ESTABLISHMENT signs a contract of €40.6 mil. with INTRACOM TELECOM

INTRACOM TELECOM solidifies its strategic presence in the Middle East

INTRACOM TELECOM has signed a contract of €40.6 million with SYRIAN TELECOMMUNICATIONS ESTABLISHMENT (STE) for the supply and installation of Point-to-Multipoint Wireless Access Systems within the framework of Syria's Third Rural Telecom project.

The scope of the contract is the turnkey supply and installation of Point-to-Multipoint radio equipment (INTRACOM TELECOM's IAS-W system) in more than 1,000 sites of STE's Access Network over a period of three years. The project will be implemented in 8 provinces of Syria, providing telephony and data services to more than 144,000 subscribers.

STE is the leading telecommunications service provider of Syria offering high quality country-wide services. The project will support STE's strategy to significantly increase its customer base using innovative, state-of-the-art technologies.

Dr. Haitham Chedyak, STE Director General said: [The project concerns] "providing telecommunication services in rural areas, to increase the socio-economical living standards in those areas and will help (resolve) the problem of centralization.
