S. Kokkalis: "Greece benefits from Turkey's political stability and economic development"

Mr. Socrates P. Kokkalis, Chairman & CEO of INTRACOM HOLDINGS Group and Chairman of INTRALOT Group, is the only Greek businessman who participated as a speaker at the Regional World Economic Forum, held in Istanbul from November 23-24.

At the panel of the session "Foreign Direct Investment, The Colour of Money", Mr. Kokkalis spoke about the increase of foreign investment in Turkey, especially after 2001, due to the country's political stability, better business environment, as well as the transparent procedures of privatization. "Turkey can become a valuable platform for the development of its neigbhouring countries' activities", emphasized Mr. Kokkalis.

Discussing his personal experience, Mr. Kokkalis reffered to the activities of INTRACOM HOLDINGS and INTRALOT Groups which are present in Turkey since 1996. A typical example is the successful joint venture of TURKCELL and INTELTEK, a company of INTRALOT Group, that runs the local popular game IDDAA since 2004. The success of the joint venture results from a better investment environment, as well as from the strict corporate governance commitments of INTRALOT and TURKCELL - as both companies are listed in their local Stock Exchanges.

Up until 2006, when the Greek banks entered the Turkish market, INTRACOM HOLDINGS and INTRALOT Groups have been the biggest Greek investments in Turkey. According to Mr. Kokkalis, the potential for trade and investment between Greece and Turkey is very large, due to their geographic proximity.

Last but not least, it is worth mentioning that INTRACOM is a member of World Economic Forum since 2003.
